Background Kabjisa gewog stretches over an area of 210 sq. km. There are 447 households in the gewog, which
currently hold a regular household population of 2260 people. The gewog comprises of 9 Chiwogs which have 11 villages. Kabjisa shares its borders with Goen
Khame gewog of Gasa Dzongkhag and Toebisa gewog of Thimphu Dzongkhag. It is the largest gewog under Punakha Dzongkhag. The gewog has very fertile land and
all varieties of cereals are grown. Orange and sweet potato are grown as cash crops. Settlements are largely concentrated on the right bank of the Mochhu
River, with an altitude ranging from 1300-1800 m above sea level. Sub-tropical climate and favorable terrains offer tremendous opportunity for farm
mechanization. The gewog is accessible to motor-able road. It has one Basic Health Unit (BHU), one RNR center and one Lower Secondary school with 626
students.
Livestock
The farmers of Kabji Geowogg rears mostly the local breed of livestock with some introduction of improved breeds
like Jersey, Mithun, hybrids of poultry, piggery supplied by the Department and integrated with the local livestock population. Department is supplying
breeding animals as per the demand of the public like Jersey bull, Mithun Bulls, Boars etc for cross breeding of animals services as because Geowog has no
Artificial insemination facilities till date and some part of the Geowog like Sirigang, Wakudamchi are accessible to AI facilities from veterinary Hospital.
Geowog has 12.32 acres of existing perennial pasture with subtropical species. The Geowog has new RNR infrastructure and staff quarter built and relocated.
