Chhubu

Chhubu gewog is one of the largest gewogs under Punakha Dzongkhag and it stretches over an area of 91.3 sq. km as per LCMP 2010. There are 350 households in the gewog, which currently hold a regular household population of 1191 people as per PHCB 2005. The gewog comprises five chiwogs and concurrently has five tshogpas. Chhubu is located between the rivers Pho chhu and Mo chhu and because of this the gewog has very limited agricultural land.

The gewog has three Out Reach Clinics (ORCs) which provide primary health care services to the far-flung villages to reach the unreached. Due to close proximity of some of the villages to Kabjisa, Guma, and Toedwang gewogs, the people of Chhubu gewog avail health and other services from these nearby gewogs. They also market their products in the neighboring gewogs.

Chhubu gewog has two extended classrooms and one Primary school so that children can have access to education without having to cross the two rivers. About 99% of the household have access to a clean drinking water supply and has three suspension bridges.
