Information technology has now become integral part of every developmental activity and the versatility of Information Technology & communication has touched every corner of developmental activities ranging from education to medicine, engineering and many more. So much have been said and done about Information and technology in this highly competitive world and Bhutan shouldn’t be left behind the scene although Bhutan has made late entry into the race when the information technology revolution is taking place.
Since Bhutan is a land locked country and economically backward comparing to other countries. Bhutan now has the right opportunity to build her economy based on knowledge and for that information and technology can play pivotal role to inform and share information amongst each other to build knowledge based economy which will contribute towards the growth of GNH.
For GNH, human resource is the biggest asset of all resources that has the potential of making big difference in the country’s economy and for that ICT have big share in developing human resource these days. With the click of the mouse, all information you want to search is now available these days because of IT revolution. Our royal government has invested heavily on the developing IT infrastructure so that our people can equally reap the benefit of IT revolution with that of other countries.
Now with introduction of Wide Area Network (WAN) every Ministry is connected to one other. And furthermore, in future all the Dzongkhags will be connected under the umbrella of WAN although Dzongkahgs have their own Local Area Network (LAN). This can drastically remove many hurdles in communication among the Dzongkhags so that the efficiency of the administrative work will be enhanced and timely information can be shared. Besides networking many tedious works have been reduced by working on the various software.
To Bhutan, ICT has become one of the main tools to promote accountability, efficiency and transparency and this website will help to do the same. Besides this the other objective of informing and sharing related information with other Dzongkhags and within the Dzongkhag is also achieved. This will help us to penetrate ICT into micro level i.e. gewog level so that the masses can enjoy the benefit of ICT.
