Dzomi

Dzomi gewog is located in between Shengana and Lingmukha gewogs with an altitude ranging from 1200-2400 m above sea level. It stretches over an area of 21.92 sq. km as per LCMP 2010. There are 257 households in the gewog, which currently hold a population of 1350 people. The gewog comprises five chiwogs and concurrently has five tshogpas.

The gewog has one NFE Centre, one extended classroom, one primary school and has one MSS. It is accessible by a motorable road and due to its proximity to Khuruthang town, people of the gewog can market their agricultural and livestock products easily. Adversely, people of this gewog experience shortage of construction timber and fuelwood as the forest coverage of this gewog is comparatively lesser than other neighboring gewogs. The gewog has a high potential for the production of paddy, wheat, mustard, and horticultural crops.

The people of Dzomi Gewog rear local breed and improved breed livestock like Jersey, Mithun cross, hybrids of poultry, piggery supplied by the Department of Livestock and integrated with the local livestock population. The services of the Livestock Sector to the farmers are being catered by the Veterinary Hospital, Punakha. The Gewog has one RNR Centre and about 93% of the household have access to a clean drinking water supply. The gewog has a total of five lhakhangs/temples.
