Livestock Product Sale Counter at Khuruthang

The Livestock Product Sale counter established at Khuruthang Vegetable Market in Punakha Dzongkhag was inaugurated on 5th September 2017. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dasho Dzongdag as Chief guest and the officials from the Dzongkhag, Regional Livestock Development Centre (RLDC), Wangdue,Dzongkhag Regional offices, local leaders, and the public. The Sale Counter was constructed at a cost of Nu.1.4 million with the fund support from Dzongkhag Development Grant (DDG) and GoI Livestock Project of the Department of Livestock (DOL). The sale counter is expected to benefit the dairy farmer groups (DFG) of 11 Geogs in the Dzongkhag.News1 With more than 290 liters of daily milk collection, the DFG produces and sells fresh milk and yogurt and is expected to produce ice-cream and other dairy products in the future. At present, the fresh milk is sold at Nu.55 per liter and set yogurt (200ml cup) at Nu. 22 per cup. Currently, around 99 dairy group members registered from Chhubu, Dzomi, Guma, Kabisa and Toedwang Geogs and the by-laws also prepared and enacted for the smooth functioning of milk collection, processing, and marketing activities.

The day also marked with the official handing taking of Livestock Product Sale Counter and Dairy Equipment between Dzongkhag Livestock Sector and DFGs in the presence of Chief Guest and officials from RLDC, Dzongkhag, and Geogs.
