Orientation Program for the 3rd Local Government

The three days orientation program for the newly elected Local Government functionaries of Punakha Dzongkhag was conducted from 13^th-15^th April 2022.

All the Gups, Mangmis, Tshogpas and the Thromde Ngotshab participated in the program. The main objective of the program was to make the LG functionaries fully aware of the existing legal instruments so that the development activities in the Gewogs can be implanted effectively and in line with the government policies. 

The sector heads made presentations on their respective sector programs and also emphasized on the powers, functions and responsibilities of the local governments, budgeting, plan activities, financial rules and regulations, waste management, environmental clearance protocol,  land services, census services, human resource related matters, ICT cluster services, disaster management, procurement rules and regulations, economic development, construction approval process, agriculture and livestock services, revised education policies, grievance redressal, medical and public health system, and asset declaration.

Regional heads also contributed in creating awareness on crime prevention, insurance schemes, etc for LGs.
