In celebration of World Environment Day, the Punakha Dzongkhag organized a river cleaning program as part of the Government’s Nationwide River Cleaning Initiative. This initiative aims to promote the conservation and restoration of river ecosystems across the country. The Dzongkhag led a large-scale campaign to clean the Phochhu, Mochhu, Shenga Rongchhu, Zabi Rongchhu, Koma Rongchhu, and Mitisina Stream. The program brought together different government agencies, Gewog Administrations, business communities, and local communities, united by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable living. With active participation from more than 400 individuals, over 5.5 MT of waste were collected.
